Edna Foa

Edna B. Foa, PhD

The late Edna Foa, PhD was a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania and founder of the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety, which she established in 1979. She was a world-renowned leader in the treatment of PTSD and anxiety disorders. Dr. Foa developed Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy and was a key contributor to the COPE therapy manuals. Dr. Foa passed away unexpectedly in 2026. She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy through her lifetime of international research, clinical work, and teaching.
Kathleen Carroll

Kathleen Carroll, PhD

The late Kathleen Carroll, PhD was a distinguished clinical scientist in the Yale Department of Psychiatry. She made seminal contributions to improving psychosocial treatments for substance use disorders and was a key contributor to the COPE therapy manuals. Dr. Carroll passed away unexpectedly in 2020. Her legacy lives on through her three decades of prolific work and mentorship in the field of addictions treatment research.
